Local residents of Gaya's Chhakarbandha forest recently stirred excitement with reports of a tiger sighting. However, officials quickly set the record straight, revealing that the images circulating online were fabricated using AI technology. Authorities traced the source of the misinformation and are preparing to file a police report.
Gaya: Claims by villagers of spotting a tiger in the forest area of Chhakarbandha in Dumaria block have been found to be fake with officials confirming that the photograph and video were generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
A forest department team, which remained on alert to trace the big cat, identified the person allegedly involved in spreading the misinformation on social media.Divisional forest officer (DFO) of Gaya forest division Shashi Kant said on Sunday, “Ranger Kuldeep Chouhan, leading the search operation has been directed to lodge FIR in this connection. Action will be taken against the culprit as per norms.”Labourers engaged in the construction of the Varanasi-Kolkata expressway had claimed to have spotted a tiger late on Friday evening.Meanwhile, on Sunday, a wild elephant strayed into Padumckak village of Barachatti block. The tusker was also seen roaming in Sarwa Bazaar, Tiwarichak, Bahargada and Surodha villages.Ranger Arvind Kumar Pandey said, “A team has been following the tusker and by Sunay evening it had shifted to Sherghati. So far, no harm to human, cattle or pet animals by the tusker has been reported. The elephant too is safe”.
