The Commissioners of GHMC, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations have appealed to Swachh Auto tipper workers to extend their full cooperation in transforming the Tri-Corporation limits into clean and garbage-free urban zone, in view of the 100-day action plan.

At a joint meeting at the GHMC Head Office on Friday, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Cyberabad Commissioner G. Srujana and Malkajgiri Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy interacted directly with Swachh Auto drivers and sanitation workers.

A large number of SAT drivers assembled outside the GHMC, while their representatives were closeted inside with the commissioners.

Sanitation standards in the CURE jurisdiction must be significantly strengthened and no garbage should be visible along roadsides or within residential colonies, the commissioners said and noted that such an objective cannot be achieved without the active participation by Swachh Auto workers.

Sanitation has been accorded top priority in the action plan and strengthening sanitation, they said, begins with improving primary collection, which in turn depends on the efficient functioning of Swachh Autos. Workers were urged to ensure 100% daily door-to-door garbage collection from every household within their assigned areas without fail.

Intervention with the RTO officials was promised to help the SAT drivers who are struggling with ageing vehicles.

Measures will be taken to reduce waiting time during garbage unloading at dumping points, and where required, intermediate portable transfer points will be established to avoid unnecessary delays, they were told.

On worker welfare, the Commissioners assured that accident insurance coverage would be extended and ex gratia assistance provided in the event of any mishap.
