AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, directly blaming US President Donald Trump for the deaths of three Indian seafarers killed in a US strike on the Palau-flagged tanker MT Settebello off the Oman coast. Kejriwal questioned the Centre's response to the incident and accused the Prime Minister of remaining silent despite the loss of Indian lives.

In a video message and accompanying social media post, the AAP leader criticised Modi for publicly thanking Trump while tensions over the incident continued. Kejriwal alleged that the government had failed to strongly defend India's interests and demanded accountability for the deaths of the sailors. He said future Indian leadership should ensure that no foreign power can act against Indian citizens without consequences.

"Donald Trump, you will be held accountable for the Indian lives lost. You are a cowardly, cold-blooded murderer," read his tweet.

He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for remaining silent on the issue, alleging that the government had failed to adequately defend India's interests.

Kejriwal asserted that India would one day have leadership that would seek accountability for actions that resulted in the deaths of Indian citizens.

"It is unfortunate that PM Modi remains silent, but soon, India will have a strong Prime Minister who will make you pay for your misdeeds," he added.

KEJRIWAL ATTACKED MODI AND TRUMP AFTER US KILLED 3 INDIAN SAILORS

Previously, he had also launched another scathing attack on Modi for posting thanks to Trump for congratulations on becoming India's longest-serving PM, questioning the timing amid US strikes that killed three Indian sailors on the Palau-flagged tanker MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman.

The US military struck the vessel's engine room after claiming it violated a blockade on Iranian oil shipments; India protested strongly, summoned the US diplomat twice, and is arranging to bring the bodies home while 21 other Indian crew were rescued.

"India needs strong leadership. No foreign leader should be allowed to act with impunity when it comes to India's interests and the lives of its citizens," Kejriwal said.

The remarks came after the Ministry of External Affairs stated on Thursday that three merchant vessels carrying Indian crew members had come under attack by the US military off the coast of Oman over the past four days, resulting in the deaths of three Indian nationals. The government said it had lodged a strong protest with Washington over the incident.
