Just an hour before her death on May 12, Twisha had called her family, but the phone got disconnected at 9:41 pm, states the FIR

Twisha Sharma, a beauty pageant winner-turned-communications professional, met Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh on a dating app in 2024.
The First Information Report (FIR) lodged in the death of Twisha Sharma paints a horrific scene of her last moments and police apathy.
The Madhya Pradesh government is now recommending a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.
‘She’s no more’: FIR filed 48 hours later, the unanswered calls
The filing of FIR in the Twisha case was delayed by 48 hours. While the death was reported at 00:05 hours on May 13, the FIR registration time by Bhopal Police is 02:36 am on May 15, as per the FIR copy accessed by CNN-News18.
Just an hour before her death on May 12, Twisha had called her family, but the phone got disconnected at 9:41 pm, even as the family could hear Samarth shouting in the background asking whom Twisha was speaking to, the FIR states.
Her family kept calling on her number, that of her husband Samarth, and her mother-in-law Giribala Singh, but the calls were not picked. “She’s no more" — Giribala told Twisha’s family after picking the call at 10:35 pm, the FIR states. The FIR also says Twisha underwent an abortion.
Her husband brought her to hospital
The FIR states police learnt of Twisha’s death from a doctor at AIIMS, Bhopal at 00:05 am on May 13. The information said her husband Samarth had brought her to hospital and said she had committed suicide by hanging herself at 10:20 pm that night.
The police, in the FIR, have stated they began their probe at Samarth’s house after receiving the autopsy report that said death was due to “antemortem hanging by ligature and multiple antemortem injuries (simple in nature but by blunt force over other parts of the body have been noted)."
Dowry, money matters and abortion
Upon Twisha’s family’s complaint, police filed an FIR against Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh. Twisha’s family said in the FIR that she faced dowry harassment ever since her marriage last year and Rs 2 lakh was demanded. Her in-laws kept complaining that the wedding did not happen as per the standards of Giribala’s family.
The FIR also says that Twisha was never given any money by her in-laws for her daily spends and in fact her family had to transfer her money.
The FIR also says Twisha had to undergo an abortion when she was one-month pregnant as her in-laws suspected that the child belonged to some other man. The FIR also says that Twisha then returned to her maternal home and went back after a meeting between both families on April 22 this year, when Samarth had assured he won’t assault her anymore.
But on May 12 night, her family got the fateful news. The family met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday and were assured a CBI investigation. Meanwhile, Giribala Singh is out on anticipatory bail and her son Samarth continues to be missing.
