Two held after exchange of fire with police in Bhojpur

Ara: Garhani SHO and other police personnel had a narrow escape when miscreants opened fire at a police team that had gone to conduct a raid to nab them at Agiaon village under Garhani police station area of Bhojpur district on Friday morning.

The police, in self-defence, also retaliated by firing at least four rounds at the criminals. However, no one was injured in the exchange of fire.The police have arrested two accused in connection with the incident.Garhani SHO Kamaljeet said, “Acting on a tip-off that some criminals were hatching a plan to commit a robbery, a police team led by me conducted a raid in Kharaicha Badhar of Agiaon village, where four criminals were planning to commit a major crime.

Seeing the police, the miscreants opened fire. The police retaliated in self-defence. While the criminals fired five rounds, the police fired four rounds in retaliation.

However, no one was injured.”The SHO added that the police arrested two accused and seized a pistol, two live cartridges and two mobile phones from their possession. An FIR has been lodged under the Arms Act and other relevant sections of the BNS at Garhani police station in this regard.“Raids are being conducted to nab the other two accused,” the SHO said.
