Two killed in separate accidents in Kochi

A man waiting for bus at Manjummel junction was fatally knocked down by a speeding two-wheeler on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Kartik Roy, 36, of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. Though rushed to a hospital, he could not be saved. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Ernakulam Government Hospital on Tuesday around 2 a.m.

Kartik and his friend, Sankar Singh, were waiting for bus when the bike reportedly hit him. The two-wheeler rider also sustained injuries in the accident. The Eloor police have registered a case.

In a separate accident, Edwin, 19, of Asamannoor, was fatally knocked down by a train at the Aluva railway station in the early hours of Tuesday. The Aluva police registered a first information report for unnatural death.
