University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved Sreenarayana Guru Open University’s (SGOU) request to increase the intake capacity for its highly sought-after MBA and MCA programmes to 1,000 seats each. This change will come into effect starting from the current academic year and the notification for the July/August session of the 2026–27 academic year is expected to be released shortly. Any candidate possessing the required basic qualification can secure direct admission without entrance examinations.

To meet the evolving demands of the global job market, both programmes feature cutting-edge specialisations alongside highly beneficial dual-specialisation options. The MBA curriculum offers foundational choices like Financial Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, and Systems Management, alongside industry-focused streams such as Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Sustainability Management, Business Analytics, Port Management, Aviation Management, Tourism Management, and Hospital Administration. Similarly, the MCA programme offers specialised tracks in Software Development, Data Science and Analytics, Cybersecurity and Forensic, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, IoT, Robotics and Embedded Systems, Human-Computer Interface and Computer Vision, Cloud Computing and Security, DevOps and MLOps, and Multimedia.

In line with the latest UGC guidelines on dual degrees, individuals currently enrolled in regular or distance academic programmes at other colleges or universities can concurrently pursue these professional courses. Designed to fit the needs of working professionals and students pursuing other academic tracks, both programmes will span duration of two years divided into four semesters. By scaling up the capacity to 1,000 seats per course, the university ensures that a far greater number of applicants will successfully secure admission compared to previous years.
