US Open 2025: Yuki Bhambri Qualifies For Maiden Grand Slam Quarterfinals

Yuki Bhambri reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, advancing to the last eight of the US Open men’s doubles competition with his partner Michael Venus in New York (USA).

The 14th-seeded Indo-New Zealand duo eliminated the fourth-seeded German pair of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz with a score of 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 23 minutes.

Next, they will face Croatia’s Nikola Mektic and American veteran Rajeev Ram, who are the 11th seeds in the draw.

In his injury-plagued singles career, the 33-year-old Indian never advanced beyond the first round, but he has been more successful in doubles. He reached the third round of the French Open and Wimbledon this year.

India’s Campaign in Junior US Open Ends

Meanwhile, promising Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi gave second seed Hannah Klugman of Britain a tough fight before losing in the girls’ singles second round 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-3. The match lasted for two hours and two minutes.

Maaya had a chance to break Klugman while the British player was serving for the match but Klugman managed to survive by consistently targeting the Indian’s backhand.

Later, Maaya also exited the doubles event with her partner Laima Cinalli after losing 2-6, 2-6 to the fourth-seeded Luna Vladson and Jeline Vandromme.

Hitesh Chauhan and Krish Tyagi also lost their respective boys’ doubles second-round matches, ending their tournament run.
