BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav inaugurated a ‘coordination war room’ for the Atal-Modi Suparipaalana Yatra coinciding with former Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee’s birth centenary celebrations, at the party’s State headquarters in Vijayawada on Sunday. The war room would oversee the preparations for the upcoming State-wide bus yatra and related programmes.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Madhav said a public meeting would be organised at Dharmavaram on December 11, marking the launch of the bus yatra.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had been invited as chief guests for the inaugural ceremony, he said. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu assured the construction of a ‘Vajpayee Smriti Vanam’ in the State in honour of the former Prime Minister, he said. The bus yatra would culminate in a public meeting in Amaravati on December 25.

Mr. Madhav said that Vajpayee was a symbol of successful coalition governance and a visionary leader who had laid the foundation for Andhra Pradesh’s development. His statues would be installed across the State as part of the centenary celebrations, he said.

Referring to the progress being made under the Central and State governments, he said, “Andhra Pradesh is on track to become a major pharma and IT hub, while Rayalaseema will be developed into a power hub, bringing major industrial opportunities. Telecommunication has become affordable in India due to the policies introduced during the Vajpayee’s tenure.”

The war room opening event was attended by BJP State general secretary and yatra convener N. Ramesh Naidu, NTR district BJP president A. Sri Ram, State spokespersons Sadineni Yamini Sharma and Sheikh Baji, State secretary B. Nagalakshmi, OBC Morcha president R. Gopi Srinivas, and Minority Morcha president Syed Basha, and key office-bearers.

A special committee was constituted to coordinate the bus yatra. Mr. Ramesh Naidu and Kiladi Dilip were appointed war room in-charges.
