Police have arrested three accused allegedly involved in attacking police personnel and damaging a police vehicle in Gujarat’s Ambaji on Sunday evening. The accused were later taken to the scene of the crime, where police carried out a reconstruction of the events as part of the investigation.

According to the police complaint, the incident began when a group of anti-social elements allegedly got into an altercation with a couple travelling on a motorcycle in Area No. 8. The accused reportedly abused and harassed the couple, prompting a call to the police.

A police team reached the spot and attempted to defuse the situation. However, the accused allegedly turned aggressive and attacked the police personnel. They are also accused of pelting stones at the police vehicle and damaging its windows with wooden sticks.

Videos of the incident soon surfaced on social media and went viral, drawing widespread attention. Following the attack, Ambaji Police formed multiple teams to track down the suspects. Two accused were arrested initially, while the third was apprehended later.

On Monday evening, police escorted all three accused from the police station to the location where the incident occurred and recreated the sequence of events. The exercise was carried out as part of the investigation into the attack.

The swift action taken by the police was appreciated by several local residents, who praised the department for promptly identifying and arresting the accused.

The three accused have been arrested.

Police have identified the arrested men as Dinesh, Vikabhai and Kalubhai. Authorities said further investigations are underway to determine whether the accused were involved in any other criminal activities.

Deputy Superintendent of Police V.B. Barad of Danta Division said the dispute began after an argument with a couple residing in Area No. 8. He said the accused later attacked the police vehicle, pelted stones and broke its windows using wooden sticks. All three accused have been arrested and further legal action is being taken.
