Mother of Delhi victim questions teen driver’s bail, asks why father not arrested
In a harrowing account, the mother of 23-year-old Sahil, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Delhi’s Dwarka, has lashed out at what she described as systemic failures that led to her son’s death. Speaking to India Today, she alleged that her son lay on the road for nearly two hours while bystanders filmed videos instead of offering help. She also criticised the lack of medical infrastructure at Indira Gandhi Hospital, stating, “There is no machinery, no proper doctors, no surgeons — nothing is there.” The mother expressed outrage over the juvenile accused receiving interim bail for an exam, questioning why the offence is bailable and why the father of the accused has not been arrested. Despite allegedly receiving threats on social media to silence her, she maintained that she does not seek compensation but wants changes in the law to ensure justice for hit-and-run victims. The report highlights the family’s struggle against what they claim is a system that protects the influential while leaving victims’ families devastated.
