These days, travel trends often start online. Sometimes, just one post is enough for people to notice a place. That’s what happened with Duduma Falls in Odisha. After a post by Anand Mahindra, a lot of people started looking it up and talking about it.Odisha is already known to travellers. People visit for its temples, beaches, and places like Chilika Lake. But beyond these popular spots, there are many places that are not talked about much. Duduma Falls is one of them, and now it is slowly getting noticed.
How Duduma Falls started trending
The attention around Duduma Falls started after Anand Mahindra shared a post on X. He mentioned that while Odisha is already popular, there are still many places people don’t usually explore. He spoke about Duduma Falls and described it as a strong waterfall where the Machkund River falls from a rocky cliff, surrounded by forest in the Koraput district.
Where it is and what it’s like
Duduma Falls is in the Koraput district of Odisha. The area is known for its hills and forests. It is quieter and not too commercial, which makes it feel different from more popular tourist spots.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit is between October and February. The weather is better during these months, and the surroundings look green after the monsoon.
The waterfall also has a steady flow.During the monsoon, from July to September, the waterfall looks stronger and fuller. But travelling can be difficult because of heavy rain and slippery paths.Summers can get quite hot here, so most people avoid visiting during that time.
Why people are interested
One big reason people are noticing Duduma Falls is that many travellers now prefer places that are quieter and less busy. The area has cliffs, flowing water, and forest around it, which makes it feel calm and simple. It’s the kind of place people look for when they want a break from city life.Image credit: X (VIZAG INSIGHT via Anand Mahindra)
