MADURAI NEWS: AIADMK leader and former minister RB Udhayakumar on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the government led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, questioning the appointment of Venkat Narayana as the state’s Special Representative in Delhi and accusing the administration of favouritism, poor governance and failing to address key public issues.

Speaking to reporters in the Anaiyur area of Madurai, Udhayakumar also took a swipe at actress Trisha, remarking that “anything can happen in a democracy" and sarcastically suggesting that she could even be announced as the Deputy Chief Minister.

Questions Delhi Representative Appointment

Questioning the appointment of Venkat Narayana as the Special Representative in Delhi, Udhayakumar asked why the government had chosen a person from outside Tamil Nadu for the post.

He also referred to the earlier appointment of astrologer Rathan Pandit, which was later withdrawn following opposition, and contrasted it with the appointments of Jagadeesh and John Arokiasamy as the Chief Minister’s assistants. “Are there no qualified people in Tamil Nadu for the post of Delhi Special Representative? Is Venkat Narayana a freedom fighter?" he asked, alleging that government positions were being distributed to people close to the Chief Minister “as though they were ancestral property."

Swipe At Actress Trisha

In a sarcastic remark, Udhayakumar said it appeared that the Chief Minister might even appoint actress Trisha as the Deputy Chief Minister.

“It seems like he might even announce Madam Trisha, who is in his circle of friends, as the Deputy Chief Minister. Anything can happen in a democracy," he said.

Criticises Governance, Power Cuts

The AIADMK leader alleged that frequent power cuts were causing hardship to the public. “People are losing sleep because of continuous power outages and are forced to stand outside their homes," he said.

He also criticised the government’s ‘Singappen Padai’ (Lioness Brigade), claiming it lacked authority and was focused only on creating social media reels.

Raises Mekedatu, NEET And Law-and-Order Issues

Udhayakumar accused the government of ignoring several pressing issues, including the Mekedatu project, NEET, and alleged incidents involving TVK functionaries taking the law into their own hands.

He questioned when the government would stop what he described as “man-hunting" activities carried out every Saturday and accused it of poaching leaders from other political parties by offering positions and power. “When will this practice of luring people from other parties by offering power come to an end?" he asked.

Seeks Revival Of Welfare Schemes

Recalling the Chief Minister’s earlier statement that he wished to be born a farmer in his next life, Udhayakumar questioned whether the government would address the concerns of farmers.

He also asked whether welfare initiatives such as the Amma Unavagam (Amma Canteen) scheme, Kudimaramathu works and the free laptop scheme would be implemented.

‘Government Focused On Reels, Not People’

Taking another swipe at the ruling dispensation, Udhayakumar alleged that the government’s failure stemmed from its handling of law and order.

He claimed that instead of addressing real issues, the administration was attempting to divert public attention through social media content. “The government came to power through mobile phone waves. Importance is being given only to reels, not to the people," he alleged.
