Kanye West faces another European setback as FC Basel cancels his June concert, citing a clash of values.

Kanye West’s uneasy equation with Europe has hit another snag, this time in Basel.

Swiss club FC Basel confirmed on Saturday that it has cancelled a proposed concert at St. Jakob-Park following an internal review, citing a clash with the club’s values.

“We have decided not to proceed with the project, as we cannot, in accordance with our values, provide a platform for the artist in question within this context," a spokesperson said to both Reuters and The Athletic.

The show, reportedly scheduled for June, was expected to be one of Ye’s major European stops.

Europe Continues to Push Back

Basel’s decision isn’t happening in isolation. Across the continent, resistance to Ye’s appearances has been building steadily, largely tied to backlash over his past antisemitic comments.

A stadium in Poland has already scrapped a planned concert, while a show in France was postponed at short notice.

In the United Kingdom, authorities went even further by blocking the rapper from entering the country and forcing organisers to cancel the Wireless Festival altogether.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer didn’t mince words either, calling the booking “deeply concerning."

Global Star, Divided Reception

Despite the mounting roadblocks in Europe, Ye’s global draw hasn’t disappeared entirely. The rapper recently played two sold-out shows in Los Angeles.

But, most importantly, in recent months, Ye has attempted to rebuild his public image. He has issued multiple apologies, linked some of his past behaviour to struggles with bipolar disorder, and publicly distanced himself from earlier controversial statements, including remarks involving Adolf Hitler.

Still, those efforts haven’t fully landed in Europe.
