The festival of colours will find artistic expression this spring as Odissi artiste Sulagna Bhattacharya is curating Rangiye Diye Jao Season 7, an annual dance concert scheduled to go on-stage on February 28.
The evening will spotlight emerging performers from the city, blending classical Odissi vocabulary with the vibrancy and sense of renewal associated with Holi.Among the highlights is a duet by Soumen Kundu and Tanima Bardhan, promising a fluid dialogue of rhythm and movement. Tithi Das and her troupe from Prabhakunj will present an ensemble performance reflecting the layered energy of the season.A distinctive segment titled Kobitara Elomelo Bhashya will merge poetry and performance, featuring Abhishek Roy, Souvik Sasmal, and Mouli Dasgupta, creating an interplay between spoken word and dance. The programme will also feature solo recitals by Rupsa Pakrashi, Esha Goswami, and Prakriti Basi, each offering individual interpretations rooted in Odissi’s classical aesthetics. Two thematic productions by the students of Sulagna Academy – Ritu Chakra and Anant Prem, will anchor the showcase. While Ritu Chakra explores the cyclical passage of seasons, Anant Prem presents a lyrical meditation on boundless love. Together, the pieces embody discipline, devotion and the spirit of collective learning.
Speaking about the concert, Sulagna Bhattacharya said, “Let us gather beneath this sky of colours, where tradition embraces tomorrow and art becomes our shared homeland. In Rangiye Diye Jao, we do not merely perform, we bloom.”With its blend of classical rigour and youthful energy, Rangiye Diye Jao Season 7 aims to celebrate Holi through rhythm, expression and renewal.
