'A good conversation': Jaishankar holds call with US state secretary Rubio; discusses India-US trade, defence

NEW DELHI: External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday held a conversation with US secretary of state Marco Rubio, during which the two discussed a range of bilateral and strategic issues, including trade, critical minerals, nuclear cooperation, defence and energy.Sharing details of the exchange in a post on X, Jaishankar said “Just concluded a good conversation with @SecRubio. Discussed trade, critical minerals, nuclear cooperation, defence and energy. Agreed to remain in touch on these and other issues.”

The call comes amid heightened tensions between New Delhi and Washington over trade deal, and tariffs imposed by Trump over Russian oil purchases.
