Award in B. Sarojadevi’s name instituted

The State government has instituted an award in the name of famous actor B. Sarojadevi, who died recently.

According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the award titled “Abhinaya Saraswati” award as she was known by this sobriquet, will be given to women who have rendered a minimum of 25 years of service in the Kannada cine world.

The award, which will be presented from 2025 calendar year, will carry a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 and a silver plaque weighing 100 g.
