An inspector attached to DJ Halli police station in Bengaluru has been accused of having an illicit affair and cheating a city-based beautician on the pretext of marriage.

The victim realised that she had been cheated after one-and-a-half years and approached the Karnataka police head and filed a complaint seeking justice on Tuesday (October 21, 2025).

The victim said that she met the officer, identified as Sunil H.B., when she went to file a complaint against a person who had cheated her financially a year and a half ago.

The accused officer allegedly took her personal number on the pretext of helping her and began texting her, to which the victim also responded. After a few days, he allegedly invited her home stating that he is alone and that his wife had gone out of station. He then booked a hotel room.

The complainant alleged that the accused initiated a physical relationship with her by promising to marry her and said he would look for a separate house for them, but rejected every house she found.

She alleged that when Sunil started avoiding her, she realized she has been cheated and filed a complaint with the office of the Director General and Inspector General of Police of Karnataka.

Doctor arrested

In a separate case, the Ashok Nagar police arrested a city-based dermatologist for allegedly sexually assaulting a 21-year-old patient when she visited his clinic in Austin Town for a consultation on October 18.

Based on the complaint, the police arrested Dr. Praveen Rodrigues, charging him under Section 75 (sexual harassment) and Section 79 (acts intended to insult the modesty of women) under BNS for further investigation.
