Vande Bharat trains: Vande Bharat Express trains have revolutionized the rail transportation in the country. Since its inception in 2019, the Vande Bharat trains have not only reduced the travel time between two distances but also improved the connectivity between cities.
Developed by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), these semi-high-speed trains are running with full occupancies. Presently, 144 Vande Bharat Express trains are operating across the country. The national transporter is also set to roll out few more trains in the ongoing financial year.

Currently, there are 20 Vande Bharat trains services (on originating/terminating basis) are catering to the needs of various stations located in Bihar. On the other hand, 22 Vande Bharat train services are catering to the needs of various stations in Maharashtra.

In a written reply to Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 23), Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that introduction of train services including Vande Bharat Express services are on-going processes on Indian Railways, subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, etc.
Vaishnaw also added that the expenditure on infrastructure including that related to Vande Bharat trains is part of expenditure on overall maintenance and upgradation works of Railways and is incurred under both Revenue and Capital Segments.
