Traders Panic After Daytime Firing in Jandiala Gold Market

A shocking incident of daylight firing was reported on Monday at the Gold Market in Jandiala, under the Jandiala Assembly constituency of Amritsar. Miscreants opened fire at Sonu Jewellers, causing panic among shopkeepers and residents in the busy market area.

Attack caught on CCTV

According to information, two youths riding a Splendor motorcycle carried out the attack. They fired around five rounds at the jewellery shop while the market was open. The sudden gunfire led to chaos, with traders running for safety. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the market.

Shop owner recount ordeal

The shop owner and his wife said they were attending to a customer who had come to buy gold when the firing suddenly began. They said several shots were fired at their shop. During the attack, something struck the wife on her chest, causing her to fall. The family initially feared she had been shot, but her life was saved.

Traders demand better security

Following the incident, traders in the Gold Market expressed fear and anger. They said they no longer feel safe running their businesses. The shop owner said they are ordinary traders and have never received any extortion calls. He questioned why such an attack happened and warned that other shopkeepers could be targeted next.

A Shiv Sena leader also criticised the government, saying that no shopkeeper in Jandiala feels safe anymore. He alleged that traders are being repeatedly targeted and blamed the government for the worsening law and order situation in the area.

Police begin investigation

Police officer Baldev Singh said police received information about firing near Valmiki Chowk, Jandiala. He said teams have begun investigating the case and are examining CCTV footage from the area. He assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
