In a video that has been going viral on the internet, Habib Jan Baloch, a lawyer and Baloch nationalist who claimed that he is a close friend of Rehman Dakait, shared his views about the film. While talking to a reporter, the friend stated that he watched 'Dhurandhar' twice and appreciated the efforts of Bollywood.He quipped, "I won’t talk about the character. This is what happens in films. Had there been a few more songs, it would have been better." Habib Jan Baloch added, "What Pakistan did not do, India’s Bollywood did. Thank you, Bollywood!"

However, he had different views about his portrayal in the movie. Baloch shared that Rehmad Dakait was a hero for the people of Lyari Town, on which the film is based. He said, "He was a hero, a good man.

The film is set in the Lyari Town of Pakistan. The makers erected a massive set in Thailand to recreate the town.Ranveer Singh, the lead actor, plays the role of an Indian spy who infiltrates the gangs of the Lyari Town. While the film is being praised everywhere, a section of people also labelled it as propaganda due to the politics shown in it.The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. At the box office, the film has been creating havoc since its opening day. It has collected over Rs 740 crore in India and has crossed the Rs 1160 crore at the global box office. The espionage thriller was released in theaters on December 5, 2025.
