Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Monday after he lost consciousness twice, over the weekend, officials said.

The 74-year-old developed health complications on January 10 and was subsequently taken to AIIMS, where doctors admitted him for further examination, news agency PTI reported.

Last year on July 21, Dhankhar resigned from the vice-president’s post, citing health reasons. The resignation was abrupt and had triggered speculation at the time. Following his resignation, Dhankhar made limited public appearances.
