Bharat Taxi news, Bharat Taxi launch date: The central government has proposed to launch Bharat Taxi, a ‘cooperative-led digital mobility app aimed at freeing the country’s commercial vehicle drivers from dependence on private companies’. Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah announced the move in Parliament in a written reply to a question by Lok Sabha MP Rajpalsinh Mahendrasinh Jadav. 

The move is expected to bring a major change by reducing the dependence of commercial vehicle drivers on private companies such as Ola and Uber. It aims to transform the mobility ecosystem through a cooperative-based, transparent and citizen-first ride-hailing platform.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on December 2, he said the government proposes to launch a cooperative-led digital mobility app aimed at freeing the country’s commercial vehicle drivers from dependence on private companies.

“Yes, the government proposes to launch a cooperative-led digital App mobility platform which will support to free the country’s commercial vehicle drivers from dependency on private companies. This App will be operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, a multistate cooperative society, registered under the MSCS Act 2002- MSCS/CRCS/1629/2025 dt. 06 June 2025. Name of the digital app is ‘Bharat Taxi’,” he stated.

Shah was responding to a question raised by Jadav, who asked whether the government plans to launch a new digital app to free the country’s commercial vehicle drivers from dependence on private companies like Ola and Uber. He also sought details on the expected economic benefits of the proposed app for citizens, especially workers in the transport sector.
