Has Princess Lilibet, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter, ever been to the UK?

Seems like the new year has brought in good news for the estranged royals.PEOPLE recently reported that insider sources confirm there is good news from the UK Government concerning its previous refusal to provide Prince Harry with an armed security detail while he is in the UK, with an anticipation that the Government will comply with Prince Harry's request for reinstatement of this type of security detail. As per reports, an internal investigation concluded Harry now qualifies for taxpayer-funded protection.

What’s happening?

In December last year, after a protracted campaign by the Duke of Sussex, during which he unsuccessfully fought a well-publicised legal battle, the full risk assessment process was finally approved. This will allow RAVEC (Royal and VIP Executive Committee), the body responsible for compiling the list of individuals to be given security coverage, to conduct an official risk assessment of the situation.

RAVEC consists of representatives from the Home Office in the UK government, as well as representatives from the Metropolitan Police and the British Royal Household. The findings from the Committee indicate that all conditions relating to the highest level of protection/ security needed to be provided to Prince Harry have been met. Per PEOPLE, a source close to Harry was quoted as saying, “It’s now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is nailed on for Harry.”

As of now, it appears Harry will receive the same level of armed officers and backup that he used to receive as a working member of the Royal Family unless something drastic happens. The Duke has made it clear that without this level of support, he couldn’t take his wife (Meghan Markle) and children (Prince Archie, 6 and Princess Lilibet, 4) back to England, as he does not feel safe going back without being protected.Amidst all this chatter and supposed proceedings, Princess Lilibet (Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor), the daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has sparked a newfound curiosity. The big question is this: has the little princess ever actually been to the UK?

Princess Lilibet: Life so far

Princess Lilibet was born in California after her parents stepped away from the royal spotlight, so her connection to Britain is really more about family history than where she lives.

Her brother Archie, although he was born in England, hasn’t spent much time in the UK either. A lot has changed with security rules and family relationships lately, so the idea of the kids heading back to Britain is starting to look a little more possible. But has Lilibet ever set foot in the UK?Yes, but only once, and she was just a baby. She came over in June 2022 with her family for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. That trip is the only confirmed time she’s been in Britain.

Since then, the Sussexes have stayed in California, and they haven’t brought the kids back for any royal events or family visits. That 2022 trip was also the only time Lilibet met any of her extended royal family in person. No one knows for sure if she’s met her cousins or other relatives—those details have never been made public. After that Jubilee visit, neither Lilibet nor Archie has joined Prince Harry on his many solo trips back to the UK.

Harry’s returned several times—to see his father, King Charles, or to deal with court cases—but Meghan and the kids have stayed in the US.

Why haven’t the children gone back to Britain?

It all comes down to security. When Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal roles in 2020, Harry lost his automatic police protection in the UK. He tried to get it back in 2025, hoping that would make it safe to bring the family over, but the courts said no. Harry’s made it clear he doesn’t feel comfortable bringing Meghan and the kids to Britain under the current security setup.Safety has been a huge concern for them ever since they left royal duties—especially with all the media attention and Harry’s worries about paparazzi.

What does the future hold in store?

Could Lilibet (and even Archie) visit the UK again? Honestly, it’s looking more likely now than it has in years. After a lot of back-and-forth over security, there are new reports saying Harry is expected to get armed protection in the UK again. That changes things. If security is sorted, Archie and Lilibet could finally visit—maybe even spend time with their grandfather, King Charles III.Late in 2025, officials reviewed Harry’s case and decided he qualified for taxpayer-funded protection again. If that protection is officially reinstated, it removes the biggest obstacle that’s kept the whole family from visiting.People close to the royals say King Charles wants to see his grandchildren, and with security in place, family visits—to Balmoral, Sandringham, or wherever—might finally happen. If all those wishes actually meet reality, it would mean a lot for the children of Harry and Meghan.

For one, the family would finally be able to reconnect in person, letting the King spend time with his granddaughter. She’d also get a real taste of her British roots and family history. However, whether Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, wants to go back to the UK or not, is still upto debate. According to some royal watchers, the businesswoman of California isn’t really interested in moving back to the UK or putting the kids through the whole royal media circus. So far, Lilibet’s only trip to Britain was when she was a baby in 2022, and she hasn’t been back. The Sussexes’ decision to leave royal life while settling for more privacy and public moments on their own terms, and the complicated security situation, have been the main reasons. But with new changes to security and some warming family relations, there’s now a real shot that Lilibet could visit the UK again—maybe to see her grandfather or connect with her heritage.

Whether that actually happens depends on how the security plans work out and what her parents decide about mixing privacy, safety, and family ties.
