The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency has secured a 38 acre land parcel at Pet Basheerabad in Qutbullahpur mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Wednesday, by fencing it off.

The land parcel in survey number 25/2 is in possession of the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalists Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society for the past 18 years, after the then State government had allotted the same to the society. Eventually, the land was caught in legal wrangles, stalling the allotments.

Meanwhile, HYDRAA received a complaint from the society representatives that the land was being encroached. After inspecting the land jointly with Revenue and HMDA officials, HYDRAA has confirmed the encroachments.

Leaving out the occupied dwellings, HYDRAA has fenced off the remaining land. Soon, a meeting will be conducted with the occupants of the houses, when their documents will be scrutinised along with the Revenue and HMDA officials, HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath said.
