The PM said this step will provide new energy, new momentum, new depth to bilateral relations, and a clear roadmap will be prepared to realise the potential in ties."Both countries are democratic powers committed to peace and human welfare. They are also fellow travellers of the Global South," said Modi, who was conferred Ethiopia's highest honour - Great Honor Nishan of Ethiopia.Modi arrived in Addis Ababa from Jordan and was welcomed at the airport by Ali who drove the Indian PM to the local science museum.
"India and Ethiopia share historical relations anchored in strong people-to-people ties. The special gesture by the Ethiopian leadership is reflective of the importance the two countries attach to each other as Global South partners," said the Indian govt in a statement on the welcome ceremony for Modi."Today we got the opportunity to discuss key dimensions of our cooperation such as economy, innovation, technology, defense, health, capacity building and multilateral cooperation.
I am happy that today we have decided to double the student scholarships for Ethiopia in India," Modi said while thanking the Ethiopian PM for his condolences on the Pahalgam terror attack and for support in the fight against terrorism.Earlier, Modi on Tuesday described his two-day visit to Jordan as "immensely productive", saying his talks with King Abdullah II have strengthened the two nations' partnership across key areas.
During the PM's Jordan visit, both countries signed five MoUs in the areas of renewable energy, water resource management, cultural exchange, digital solution and twinning between Petra and Ellora, two Unesco heritage sites.

"The outcomes we have achieved together will open new avenues for progress and prosperity for our citizens." he said.
