Nine passengers, including two tourists from Israel, sustained minor injuries after the omni-bus they were travelling in went off the road and turned turtle in a pit near Vedasandur in the early hours of Tuesday (December 16, 2025).

According to the police, the bus from Bengaluru was proceeding towards Kodaikanal.

While crossing Kottaiyur near Vedasandur, the driver, Palanisami, 49, of Salem district, lost control of the speeding bus, causing it to plunge into a roadside pit and fall onto its side.

The accident occurred around 4.45 a.m. when the passengers were asleep.

Out of the 17 passengers, nine, including two Israeli women, sustained minor injuries.

All the injured were rushed to the government hospital in Vedasandur.

While the foreign tourists were shifted to a private hospital, two of the passengers from Bengaluru were referred to Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital.

Vedasandur police are investigating the incident.
