With the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency bypoll scheduled for Tuesday (11 November), Hyderabad District Election Officer R.V. Karnan has confirmed that all polling arrangements are complete and will be carried out strictly as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. The officer reviewed the preparedness on Monday (November 10) and assured that measures have been put in place for smooth, transparent and safe polling.
Polling will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. Voters who arrive at the polling station premises before closing time will be allowed to cast their vote. All 407 polling stations will be situated on the ground floor and will have facilities, including drinking water, lighting, toilets, ramps and seating. Separate queues and volunteers will support women voters, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Mobile phone deposit counters will be arranged at every station, allowing voters to deposit their phones before entering the booth and collect them when they leave.
A total of 2,060 polling personnel have been trained and deployed. Each polling station will be equipped with four Ballot Units, one Control Unit and one VVPAT device. In case of technical issues, equipment will be replaced immediately with functional reserve units, said a release.
Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium, Yousufguda has been designated as the Distribution, Reception and Counting Centre. 38 dispatch counters have been set up to ensure a seamless movement of polling teams. The transportation of electronic voting machines will be carried out using vehicles fitted with GPS, and every movement will be monitored from the control room.
The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner has deployed striking forces and mobile squads to enforce law and order at all polling stations. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel will be stationed at 68 polling locations. Webcasting will take place at every booth for live monitoring, the release added.
