Missing kittens, ‘threats of violence’: FIR filed after Dehradun woman accuses uncle, aunt of abducting her pets

As per the FIR, registered under criminal intimidation charges and sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Dhiman brought home a cat and its two kittens on March 12–13. “The mother cat left the kittens at my home and went away. I took care of the kittens.

However, my uncle Umesh Dhiman and his wife Suman Dhiman, who live on the same premises where we share a common courtyard, were disturbed by the presence of the cats, saying that cats are inauspicious,” she said in the complaint.

Dhiman alleged that, holding this belief, her uncle allegedly locked the kittens inside a storage compartment of his scooter and took them away, abandoning them somewhere. “When I informed his wife about this, she, along with their three sons, threatened to beat me inside my own home. My family feels threatened by them. Therefore, I request you to kindly take necessary action on this complaint,” the complaint said.

The FIR names five accused and was registered in the Nehru Colony police station on Friday.
