The Thrissur district employment exchange has been elevated to model employment exchange status, becoming the second in the State to receive the designation.
The announcement was made by General Education Minister V. Sivankutty at a function at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi’s Changampuzha Hall on Tuesday.
The Minister also launched the State’s first phase of smart card distribution for all registered jobseekers. The initiative replaces the traditional paper cards with durable smart cards that feature the holder’s name, registration number, date of birth, and a QR code for instant access to their online profile.
“This system will ensure accuracy, durability, and ease of use for jobseekers,” the Minister said.
He added that the Employment Director had been tasked with completing distribution within the set timeframe and that industry-specific training programmes would be rolled out through employment exchanges.
As part of its model exchange makeover, the Thrissur office now offers self-service kiosks, paperless operations, modern drinking water facilities, display screens for information, a single-window registration and renewal system, and dedicated visitor computer stations.
Employment Director Sufiyan Ahmed presided over the event, with district panchayat president V.S. Prince delivering the keynote address.
