Alpine have officially cut ties with Jack Doohan, ending the Australian’s brief and bruising Formula One stint.

The team confirmed Tuesday that it had reached a “mutual agreement" to part ways with the 22-year-old, who was already sidelined after an underwhelming start to the 2025 season.

Doohan, the son of MotoGP legend Mick Doohan, replaced Esteban Ocon at the end of 2024 and was promoted to a full-time race seat for 2025. But the opportunity quickly unraveled. He failed to finish three of his six races last season, with a best result of 14th in Bahrain, and scored no points.

His final blow came with a retirement at the Miami Grand Prix in May, after which Alpine demoted him to reserve driver status.

“Alpine has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan to not continue his driving services," the team said, adding that the decision would allow him to “pursue other career opportunities."

Despite the split, Alpine praised Doohan’s “commitment and professionalism" during his four years with the organisation.

Doohan’s replacement, Argentine rookie Franco Colapinto, fared little better. He also failed to score a point in what was widely regarded as the weakest car on the grid.

Alpine endured a disastrous campaign, finishing last in the constructors’ championship with just 22 points — all scored by Pierre Gasly.

Looking ahead, the team will reset for the upcoming season with Gasly and Colapinto confirmed as its driver pairing.

Alpine will also debut a completely redesigned car under the new regulations, powered by Mercedes engines after ending its long-standing partnership with Renault.
