In an exciting move for Bihar's academic landscape, Rajiv Raushan, a distinguished IAS officer from the class of 2010, has stepped into the role of first secretary for the newly established higher education department. His primary mission revolves around translating government resolutions into action and bridging the gap between academic institutions and financial resources.
Patna: 2010-batch Bihar cadre IAS officer Rajiv Raushan on Monday assumed charge as the opening (first) secretary of the newly created higher education department.Talking to reporters, Raushan said his top priority would be to implement the state govt’s resolutions.He said the department currently functions from two locations, with academic and administrative work handled at the Lok Bhavan, while financial matters are managed through the education department. Emphasising coordination, he said, sustained efforts would be made to ensure better synergy between the two to strengthen higher education, with the objective of positioning Bihar as a leading state in this sector.The opening secretary said the new department has been created to improve the quality of higher education and promote job-oriented learning. “We will focus on providing multifaceted and comprehensive education to equip youth with skills that enhance employability after graduation,” he said.The director of the higher education department, N K Agarwal, welcomed him with a bouquet. After assuming charge, Raushan held an introductory meeting with department’s officers, during which detailed discussions were held on the formation, structure, functions, and responsibilities of the new department.
Senior officials and officers of the department, including education department consultant Baidyanath Yadav; director (administration) Manoranjan Kumar; deputy directors Nasim Ahmed, Deepak Kumar and Divesh Chaudhary; deputy director (administration) Ramanuj Prasad Singh; special duty officer Vinita, along with other departmental officers, were present on the occasion.
