RIMS demolition issue: Marandi backs High Court's order to demolish illegal RIMS constructions; Questions government accountability in land registration

Ranchi: BJP state president and the leader of opposition in the assembly, Babulal Marandi, on Monday lashed out at the Hemant Soren govt, saying that the illegal construction built on Rims campus, which is being demolished by the order of the Jharkhand high court, is absolutely justified and a welcome move.He, however, asked why the common people should suffer because of the alleged corrupt system of the Hemant govt.However, JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said, “Whatever is happening is happening because of the HC order and not because of the state govt. If Marandi thinks it is wrong, then he should go and tell the court. The matter of illegal construction happened when Raghubar Das was the CM and C P Singh was the urban development minister.”Meanwhile, Marandi alleged that even IAS officers went to jail for manipulation of Army land, and claimed that the Hemant govt's corrupt system is fully responsible for the illegal construction on the Rims campus.When a common citizen buys a flat or land, it is the govt’s responsibility to declare the related land as govt or private property, Marandi said.If the land belonged to Rims, then how did the registrar register the flats built on it? he said.
