Seven people die on spot as truck hits car in Nellore district

A tipper truck running on the wrong side of the road hit a car, killing seven people on the spot. The accident took place on the highway near Peramana village in Sangam mandal of SPSR Nellore district at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Being alerted by the local residents, a team from Sangam police station rushed to the spot. They took out the bodies from the car and sent them to Atmakur Government Hospital for post-mortem.

The deceased, all residents of Nellore city, were going to Kadapa when the accident occurred. The truck driver fled after the accident, abandoning the vehicle on the road. The police are searching for him.

Meanwhile, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Ponguru Narayana and Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed their deep shock over the horrific road accident.

Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy requested the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Regional Officer to take immediate steps to lay a four-lane road in view of the frequent accidents in the area. He asked them to send the proposals of the Central government soon.
