‘Something Is Killing the Children’ gets greenlit for a cinematic and OTT adaptation

‘Something Is Killing the Children’ has been one of the most popular horror comics as of recently. According to newly released reports, the animated book has officially been greenlit for a movie and series!

‘Something Is Killing the Children’ gets movie and series confirmation

As per reports shared by The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Something Is Killing the Children’ by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera has officially scored a movie and series greenlight! One of the biggest names in production, who has also housed big-budget films such as ‘Black Phone 2’ and ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’, has bought the credits and rights to turn the horror and thriller comic book into a movie.

Not only that, they have also availed the right of making the fic into an entire series as well, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation over the future possibilities for the stories.The comic book itself debuted all the way back in 2019 and has been on the rise to popularity ever since. The live-action series for the fic was already in development when the rights were bought by the production house. The project was initially under consideration by one of the biggest OTT platforms currently, along with the showrunners Mike Flanagan, Baran bo Odar, and Jantje Friese. The entire project, however, was dropped by them sometime at the end of last year.

Plot of ‘Something Is Killing the Children’

The plot of the horror comic is set in a world where children are able to see monsters that lurk in the darkness, while adults cannot. It starts off with a small town where all of the children, leaving but one teenager, have been plagued by monsters who only feast on the young. When no one believes his words, a mysterious young woman, namely Erica Slaughter, enters the story and changes everything with her monster hunting skills.
