State Cabinet leases land to K.M. Mani Foundation amid speculations of KC(M) leaving LDF

Even as speculations are rife about the Kerala Congress (M) [KC(M)] returning to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) ahead of the Assembly elections, the State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to lease land to the K.M. Mani Foundation to set up a memorial institute in the name of the founding chairperson of the KC(M). As per the Cabinet decision, 25 cents of land located at Kowdiar in Thiruvananthapuram will be leased for 30 years to the foundation to set up K.M. Mani Memorial Institute for Social Transformation at the rate of ₹100 for 1 are.

Earlier in the day, KC(M) chairperson Jose K. Mani had rejected speculations about the party leaving the Left Democratic Front (LDF). He also criticised the media for “creating misleading narratives,” rejecting reports of unofficial discussions with senior Congress leaders.

The Cabinet also decided to lease out 1.139 acres of land in Thalassery for the setting up of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Study and Research Centre, in memory of the former State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]. The land will be leased at a rate of ₹100 for 1 are to the Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Memorial Academy of Social Sciences.
