Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar expressed concern over the ‘deteriorating’ state of government education in Telangana, blaming it on a decade of BRS rule followed by two years of Congress governance.

He alleged that while 6,000 schools were shut down during BRS rule, the Congress government not only failed to reopen them but also closed another 1,500 schools within a year. He made these remarks during the 44th State Conference of ABVP at a private venue here on Monday.

The Minister, also Karimnagar MP, criticized the Congress for failing to deliver on promises such as providing a ₹5 lakh Bharoosa Card to every student and ensuring fee reimbursement, which has led to the closure of several colleges. He warned that the BJP will not remain silent if students are harassed over fee reimbursement issues and called for intensifying ABVP’s movements on education-related problems in the State.

A failed government costs an election, but a failed education system costs an entire generation,” he said, accusing the Congress of breaking its promises, including filling two lakh jobs, providing ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance, setting up residential sports schools, and ensuring 75% reservation for Telangana youth in private sector jobs.

He pointed out that last year, 2,081 government schools had zero student enrollment, thousands of teacher posts remain vacant, and fee reimbursement arrears have crossed ₹10,000 crore, forcing hundreds of colleges to shut down. He also criticized Congress for neglecting hostels, where students suffer from lack of electricity, water, and food, leading to cases of food poisoning.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar stressed that ABVP has always believed in ballots, not bullets, and that those who trusted ballots rose to prominence, while those who relied on bullets perished. ABVP State president Ravula Krishna (HCU), Secretary Rambabu and other leaders were present.
