Lane Kiffin is the brand new football coach for LSU, and it has not been an easy couple of days on that front. Rumors started circulating over the weekend, and it was finally announced that he was leaving Ole Miss after six long years to move to Louisiana.

While he explained the process to be 'excruciating,' the decision is set in stone. But amid all the chaos, Kiffin has shared something personal, something that influenced his decision to leave the state of Mississippi behind and seek a new adventure. He revealed how his father's life and the places he traveled to became the catalyst for his decision to join LSU, even though he had an amazing tenure at Ole Miss.

Lane Kiffin's father was the reason behind his move to LSU

During his introductory press conference at Louisiana State University on Monday, December 1, Lane Kiffin revealed a personal anecdote from his life that motivated his move to become head coach for the Tigers. He said that while trying to make this decision in his life, he tried to channel his father, and how he lived his life. He said,“Over the past few weeks, and especially the past few days, trying to figure out this decision, I really tried to channel my dad,” And I thought of when I spoke at his funeral.

And when I spoke, it occurred to me as I was writing that speech: I never understood why as a kid we moved so much. And I realized we had moved 17 times. But during that funeral and during that week when he passed, the amount of people that reached out to me.

. was amazing.”

He said that after the death of his father, Monte Kiffin, who himself was a football coach, and had the fortune to travel around the country and coach so many youngsters, he realized how much he was loved by so many people from so many places. And that's why he decided that after six years in Ole Miss, it was time for him to make a new home somewhere else. And now, he is ready to start his journey with the LSU Tigers and see where that takes him. Also Read: Lane Kiffin’s daughter Landry claps back at furious Ole Miss fans as LSU welcome sparks fresh controversy
