A male tiger was safely captured in Hunsur taluk of Mysuru district in the early hours of January 6.
The Forest Department had deployed a cage in the fields belonging to one Sidde Gowda at Hemmige village. The big cat was trapped in the cage.
Forest officials said the tiger is in good health and is between six and seven years old.
On the instructions of senior officials, the tiger was shifted to the rescue centre at Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru.
Forest authorities have sounded an alert in view of frequent sightings of tigers in parts of Mysuru district, particularly in villages bordering tiger reserves. The government has instructed forest officials to work closely with local communities to address the human-wildlife conflicts.
