LUCKNOW: A massive 2,88,74,067 voters have been deleted from Uttar Pradesh's draft electoral roll following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). However, officials clarified that those who failed to make it to the draft roll still have an opportunity to register.Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinwa, stated that individuals who missed the enumeration phase or failed to submit their form to the Booth Level Officer by December 26 must now apply afresh. "Their existing EPIC has become invalid. They must fill Form 6 as a new voter, which can be submitted both online and offline," he explained.

Out of 2.89 cr deleted voters, 7.73 lakh alone are those voters who failed to submit the enumeration forms to BLO.

Furthermore, 79.52 lakh voters were found absent.Rinwa clarified that applicants who submitted Form 6 after October 27, 2025, will not find their names in the draft roll published on January 6. If verified correctly, their names will be included in the final electoral roll on March 6, 2026.A critical window for claims and objections is now open from Tuesday (Jan 6) to February 6.During this period, voters can apply for inclusion, correction, or raise objections to the draft list. Special notice will be sent to approximately 1.04 crore ‘unmapped' voters—those who were on the list as of October 27 but could not be verified under the SIR exercise. These individuals must submit 12 specific documents prescribed by the ECI to re-establish their identity.Authorities will process all forms and address claims until February 27. The final electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh is expected to be published on March 5, 2026.
