Youth arrested for raping sister

COIMBATORE: The Mettupalayam all women police arrested a 20-year-old man on Friday for raping his teenage sister near Sirumugai in Coimbatore district.According to a police officer, the young man had discontinued his studies and was staying at home.

He has a 19-year-old sister.Around 1pm on Oct 20, the youth and his sister were alone at home. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused misbehaved with his sister. When she resisted, he threatened her with dire consequences and raped her. He threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident and blackmailed her by harming himself with a blade, resulting in an injury on his abdomen.The young woman informed their father about the incident, who arranged for medical assistance through the 108 ambulance services.

The accused was taken to Mettupalayam Government Hospital for treatment.The sister filed a complaint against him with the Mettupalayam all women police. The police registered a case against him under sections 64(2)(f), 127(2), and 351(2) of the Bharathiya Nyaya Sanhita and arrested him. He was remanded in judicial custody.
