The 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad, will conduct an open rally for the induction of young sportspersons as sports cadets into the Boys Sports Company (BSC) from April 6 to 12. The rally will be held to select raw and proven players in volleyball, kayaking and canoeing.
Candidates applying for the rally must be aged between 8 and 14 years, having been born after April 6, 2012 and before April 6, 2018. The minimum educational qualification required is a 3rd standard pass from any recognised school, with adequate knowledge of English and Hindi. Medical fitness of the applicants will be assessed by a Medical Officer from the Army Sports Institute along with a specialist from the Army Sports Medicine Centre.
Those selected through the rally will be designated as sports cadets and provided free boarding and lodging, education up to 10th standard, living accommodation, insurance coverage and medical facilities, in addition to scientific sports coaching. Eligible sports cadets will subsequently be enrolled in the Indian Army in accordance with the provisions of the Army Recruitment Rules, said a release.
