At least 13 people were killed after an airstrike hit a residential complex in a city southwest of Tehran in the early hours of Monday, according to Iranian media reports.
The semiofficial Fars news agency and Nour News reported that the aerial attack occurred near Eslamshahr. The exact target of the attack remains unclear, and neither Israel nor the United States has taken responsibility so far. The incident followed strong warnings from US President Donald Trump urging Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face consequences. Follow for live updates.
In a separate development, strikes were also reported at the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran. Iranian outlets said buildings on the campus were damaged, along with a nearby natural gas distribution facility. It remains uncertain what specific site within the university was targeted. The campus is currently vacant, with classes shifted online due to the ongoing conflict.
The university has previously faced international sanctions over alleged links to Iran’s military, particularly its ballistic missile programme overseen by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Reports suggest security forces have been using alternative locations as bases amid continued attacks.
Meanwhile, Iran’s state-run newspaper IRAN reported another strike in a residential neighbourhood of Qom, a major Shiite religious centre south of Tehran, where at least five people were killed. As with other incidents, the intended target has not been disclosed.
Authorities have yet to release updated overall casualty figures or details of material losses from the ongoing conflict.
