29 police personnel injured in accident

A road accident in Koyilandy left 29 police personnel injured after the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck on Saturday (April 11, 2026). The incident occurred around 12.30 a.m. while the officers were returning to the Malabar Special Police camp in Malappuram after completing election duty at Madappally.

According to police sources, the head-on collision was caused by negligence on the part of the truck driver. A case was registered against him under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving. No officer sustained life-threatening injuries, they said.
