The Amarnath Yatra 2026 will run from July 3 to August 9. Here’s a detailed guide on how to register, eligibility rules, and route options.

The annual Amarnath Yatra is one of India’s most significant spiritual journeys, drawing thousands of devotees every year. In 2026, the yatra will take place from July 3 to August 9. With registration opening on April 15, pilgrims must be aware of the updated rules, eligibility criteria, and process before planning their journey. Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you prepare.

Registration Begins April 15: The registration process for Amarnath Yatra 2026 officially starts on April 15. Since there is a daily quota, early booking is highly recommended.

Online Registration Process: Pilgrims can register through the official website or the Shri Amarnathji Yatra mobile app. You’ll need a valid mobile number and email ID (for OTP verification), a scanned Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued after April 8, 2026, and a passport-sized photograph.

Offline Registration: You can also register at over 500 designated bank branches across India. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Aadhaar-based biometric eKYC will be done. Manual registration is also available if there are technical issues.

Registration Fee: Each applicant must pay a fee of ₹150 to complete the registration.

RFID Card is Mandatory: After registration, pilgrims must collect an RFID card from centres in Jammu & Kashmir. Biometric verification is required. Entry at key points like Domel and Chandanwari is not allowed without this card.

Eligibility Criteria You Must Meet: Authorities have strict rules to ensure safety. Age must be between 13 and 70 years. Pregnant women beyond six weeks are not allowed. A valid CHC from an authorised doctor is compulsory.

Choose Your Route Carefully: Pilgrims can select between two main routes - Pahalgam Route (Traditional). It is around 46 km (one way). An easier climb, it is ideal for first-timers. The shorter Baltal Route is around 14 km (one way). It is steeper and more challenging. Helicopter services are available on both routes up to Panchtarni.

Key Travel Guidelines: Bookings close 7 days before your travel date. Group registration allowed (5 to 30 people). Permits will include route and travel date. Help desks are available at bank branches.

Facilities Along the Route: Pilgrims will find tents and accommodation, medical facilities, food and basic supplies. However, due to tough terrain and unpredictable weather, proper physical preparation is essential.
