Amazon expands healthcare push with new Health AI platform

New Delhi: Amazon has officially unveiled its latest AI-powered health assistant called Health AI on its official website and in its mobile application. This tool is especially designed to help users ask health-related questions, understand medical records, manage prescription renewals, and connect with healthcare providers.

It can also book the appointments and guide the users based on their health information if they are enabled to access their records. This feature is currently limited to the US only, with the wider rollout planned in the coming weeks.

This move also comes as other companies explore AI in healthcare. OpenAI has also recently unveiled its ChatGPT Health, the health-focused experience within ChatGPT that enables users to connect to medical records and support wellness applications, so health-related questions can be answered with a more personal context.

Health AI is an AI-based health assistant that is designed to make healthcare easier to navigate. It can also answer general health questions, explain medical records, and help users understand lab results or diagnoses.

This assistant is especially designed to become more useful if the user enables it to access their health information. Health AI can look at medical records such as medications, diagnoses, and lab reports to give more personalized responses.

This tool can also connect users with licensed healthcare professionals through One Medical, Amazon’s healthcare services. The users can also communicate with the providers through messages, video consultations, or in-person appointments.

Health AI can also help with prescription renewals by sending the requests to One Medical providers and by enabling users to fill prescriptions through Amazon Pharmacy or another pharmacy of their choice. The assistant can also suggest the relevant healthcare products available on Amazon.

Health AI was first unveiled earlier this year for One Medical members inside the One Medical application. Amazon is now extending the tool so it can be used directly on the Amazon official website and on its official mobile application.
