The district administration felicitated Anke Gowda, founder of Pustaka Mane (Book House) in Haralahalli village, Pandavapura taluk, after he was selected for the prestigious Padma Shri Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to literature and education.
Ahead of the Padma Shri presentation ceremony scheduled to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on May 25, Deputy Commissioner Kumar presented a felicitation letter to Anke Gowda at his office.
The Deputy Commissioner also arranged for an assistant to accompany Anke Gowda during his journey to New Delhi to ensure a smooth and hassle-free trip for the award ceremony.
“Anke Gowda has been widely recognised for promoting reading habits and educational activities in rural areas through Pustaka Mane, an initiative started in Haralahalli village that has earned national recognition and brought pride to Mandya district,” the release added.
