Heavy summer crowds continued at the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala during the week, with over 90,000 pilgrims having darshan on May 16 and 17.
According to temple authorities, more than 4.32 lakh devotees had darshan during the past five days. Over two lakh devotees also underwent head tonsuring at the Kalyanakatta in fulfilment of their prayers with a minimum of over 43,000 devotees on an average in the past three days.
In view of the rising temperatures, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) erected additional pandals around the temple precincts and along the Mada Streets for the convenience of devotees besides augmenting the application of white coolant paints.
