College student alleges molestation, rape bid; claims police inaction

A 20-year-old college student has filed a complaint that a realtor molested her and attempted to rape her during a party. She also alleged that despite complaining to the police, the accused threatened her repeatedly and launched violent assaults, forcing her to flee the city. She alleged that the police, instead of taking action against the accused, questioned her character.

According to the FIR registered at the Madiwala Police Station, the incident occurred on May 11 when the student, who studies at a private college and works part-time at a food outlet, attended a party hosted by the café owners.

The accused, identified as Hainas, a native of Kerala and a real-estate broker, allegedly attacked her after her boss and his friend stepped out to get her juice. Upon hearing the commotion, they returned and rescued her. Following this, the accused left the place warning them of dire consequences .

In a video statement, the victim alleged that on May 12, when she and her friends attempted to lodge a complaint at Madiwala Police Station, associates of the accused intimidated them outside the station. On May 14, nearly nine men, allegedly led by an associate identified as Suresh, were seen loitering near her workplace.

On May 15, Suresh and a group of men allegedly barged into the residence of her acquaintances and assaulted them, leaving several injured. Fearing for her safety, the student said she fled to Kerala with a friend.

The police later registered an FIR on May 18 against Hainas and his associates under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for further investigation.
