The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board has imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on a commercial company located on Jubilee Hills Road No. 82 for allegedly releasing STP-treated water onto a public road, an official release stated on Monday.
The incident was recorded during an inspection on Friday. According to officials, the discharge caused water stagnation, hampered traffic movement, and created unsanitary conditions in the area.
Upon inspection, the Board served a legal notice to the company owners, ordering them to immediately stop the discharge and reuse the treated water as per the rules. The company was also directed to submit an implementation report within 48 hours. The Board, however, did not disclose the name of the violating company.
The fine of ₹1 lakh was imposed for causing public inconvenience. The Board has warned that if the payment is not made within three days, additional fines, suspension of drinking water and sewage services, and legal action will be taken.
The Board further clarified that all residential, commercial, educational, and industrial establishments operating STPs must reuse the treated wastewater as per the rules. It added that strict action will be taken if treated water is released onto public roads or other unauthorised areas.
